Why doesn’t incense set off my smoke alarm?
My smoke alarm is so sensitive that even with a plastic bag over it, going off within moments of frying any food. Even if the food isn 't the burning, the smoke alarm goes off immediately. However, I can burn a full cone or stick incense and the smoke alarm does not go off. I can see smoke come out the real, and it doesn 't set the alarm! Why?

perhaps by the time the incense smoke has reached the alarm its thinned out, whereas cooking smoke is much thicker.

smoke alarm will set off if it recognize the smoke as gas (gas range); fumes; and the like. but smoke from incense or candles, it won’t as it is not hazardous to human’s health.

If you had like 20 incense burning at the same time it might set it off. Smoke alarms are designed to trace thick smoke like uhhhhhhh….house fire!!!! My moms always would go off when she would burn toast or cook a frozen pizza…Who knows?????
